This guide provides links to research databases available through the library as well as selected websites for Art and Music.
Articles and books not held by Torreyson Library may be requested through Interlibrary Loan. For research and reference help, e-mail the Cybrarian. If you need immediate help, contact the Reference desk at 450-5224.

- Academic Search Elite
- A multi-disciplinary database offering full text for more than 2,050 scholarly journals. Covering virtually every area of academic study, it offers full text information for many of it's journals dating as far back as 1985.

- Britannica Online
- Includes the Encyclopedia Britannica, Britannica Concise Encyclopedia, as well as Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Collegiate Thesaurus.

- Click on the database tab to access ECO. An OCLC collection of scholarly journals. Results will indicate if the journal title is held by UCA. Use the Library's catalog to locate the journal.
- Funk and Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia
- Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.
- International Index to Music Periodicals
- Provides indexing and abstracts for more than 400 international music periodicals from over 20 countries. It includes a comprehensive range of subject areas in both scholarly and popular music journals ranging from International Journal of Music Education, Ethnomusicology, Jazz Education Journal and Musical Times to Rock and Rap Confidential and Rolling Stone. Indexed articles cover the full spectrum of subjects and all aspects of music, including music education, performance, ethnomusicology, musical theatre, theory, popular music forms and composition. You can find articles on a diverse array of musical genres, from the liturgical chants of medieval monks to the eclectic sounds of contemporary alternative rock musicians.
- Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe
- Provides full-text documents from over 5,600 news, business, legal, medical, and reference publications with a variety of flexible search options.
- MLA International Bibliography
- An index of journal articles, books and dissertations. Produced by the Modern Language Association, the electronic version of the bibliography dates back to 1963 and contains over 1.6 million citations from more than 4,400 journals and series and 1,000 book publishers. Coverage is international and subjects include literature, language and linguistics, folklore, literary theory & criticism, dramatic arts, as well as the historical aspects of printing and publishing. Listings on rhetoric and composition and the history, theory and practice of teaching language and literature are also included.

RILM Abstracts of Music Literature
- RILM (Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale)
Abstracts of Music Literature published by Répertoire International de
Littérature Musicale, New York, contains records in over 100 languages;
entries include original-language titles, title translations in English,
full bibliographic information, and abstracts in English, as well as author,

- The Aria Database
- a diverse collection of information on over 1000 operatic arias. Designed for singers and non-singers alike, the Database includes translations and aria texts of most arias as well as a collection of MIDI files of operatic arias and ensembles.
- Beethoven Bibliiography Database
- Provides information related to Beethoven and may be searched by Subject, Title, Score (Beethoven), or category.
- Folk Music Index
- An index to recorded resources. May be searched by browsing, keyword, or publisher.
- Instrument Encyclopedia
- Beginning with more than 140 artifacts from the Stearns Collection at the University of Michigan, this resource features musical instruments from around the world.
