General Information

Ben’s Guide to U.S. Government for Kids
Ben’s Guide is a grade specific site that teaches about the United States government. There is also a page for parents and teachers with links to government websites providing curriculum material and lists of educational websites provided by various government agencies.
Budget of the United States Government
The online Budget of the United States Government contains the Budget Message of the President, information on the President's budget and management priorities, and budget overviews organized by agency.
Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA)
The CFDA site gives you access to a database of all Federal programs that provide financial assistance, such as grants, loans, scholarships, and other forms of assistance for things like education, small business development, community development and research.
Catalog of U.S. Government Publications (CGP)
The Catalog of U.S. Government Publications (CGP) is the finding tool for electronic and print publications from the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of the U.S. government. The Catalog contains descriptive records for historical and current publications and provides direct links to those that are available online. There are more than 500,000 records since July 1976 and the CGP is updated daily. The catalog will grow to include records for publications dating back to the late 1800s, making the CGP the central point for locating new and historical Government publications.

A few of the features of the CGP are direct links to online versions of publications from the cataloging record, a "Locate a Library" feature within each record to find a nearby Federal depository where a particular publication can be found (interlibrary loan may also be available from UCA or the public library) and searches can be narrowed to specific collections or formats, such as maps, Congressional, or Internet publications. Search Hints are provided under the query boxes and are helpful in finding specific information.
Constitution of the United States
The Constitution of the United States contains the primary laws of the Federal Government and describes the three main branches of government and their jurisdiction. As a living document the Constitution is occasionally modified.
Documents Center
The Documents Center, maintained by the University of Michigan, provides links to various websites for government information in areas such as federal government, foreign governments, international agencies, and local and state governments.
Economic Indicators
With information on prices, wages, production, business activity, purchasing power, credit, money, and Federal finance, Economic Indicators compiles data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the U.S. Census Bureau and publishes online monthly, using text, charts, and graphs.
Economic Report of the President
The Economic Report of the President is an overview of the nation's economic progress submitted to Congress by the Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors. It contains current and foreseeable trends and annual numerical goals concerning topics such as employment, production, real income and Federal budget outlays, employment objectives for significant groups of the labor force, annual numeric goals, and a program for carrying out program objectives.
Federal Agency Directory
This directory is a listing of federal agencies and can be searched both alphabetically or by branch. The site is maintained by the Louisiana State Universities libraries.

FirstGov.gov provides access to millions of web pages from federal, state, and local governments. Information, resources, and services can be found without needing to know specific departments or agencies. Information is sorted by topic, audience and there is also a search engine available. View the Search Tips under the search engine query box to find out more on searching, viewing results, and how clusters can help you narrow and define your search to get better results.

Infomine contains Internet resources, such as databases, electronic journals, electronic books, and a large collection of government resources and guides.
U.S. Government Manual
The U.S. Government Manual provides information on the agencies of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government. There is also information on quasi-official agencies, international organizations the U.S. government participates in, and boards, commissions and committees of the government.

Presidential Information

Inaugural Addresses of the Presidents
This site provides the inaugural addresses of the U.S. Presidents from George Washington to George W. Bush.
Public Papers of the Presidents of the United States
Public papers of the Presidents provides presidential writings, addresses and remarks of the public nature. The papers of Presidents George H.W. Bush, Clinton, and George W. Bush are available online. The library has volumes of the series for Presidents Hoover, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, and Reagan.
State of the Union Addresses
The State of the Union is an annual address presented before a joint session of Congress and held in the House of Representatives Chamber at the U.S. Capitol. The address not only reports on the condition of the nation, but also allows the president to outline his/her legislative agenda and national priorities to Congress. State of the Union Addresses are available online from 1992 to the present.
Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents
The Weekly Compilation contains statements, messages, remarks, and other materials from the current President, released by the White House Press Secretary for the proceeding week. The Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents is available from 1993 forward and is searchable by keyword or can be browsed by table of contents.
White House
The White House website has information on current issues and news, major speeches of the President, biographies of the President, vice-President, and First Lady, and information on the White House (its' history, design, artwork, etc.).

Congressional Directory
The Congressional Directory gives short biographies of current Senate and House members, with information on committee memberships, administrative assistants/secretaries, and room and telephone numbers.
Library of Congress
The Library of Congress is the research arm of Congress and the national library of the United States.

The website of the U.S. House of Representatives provides information on debates that are on the House floor, House committee websites, information on finding bills, laws, or how representatives voted, and links to learning about how the legislative process works.

State and County Quick Facts
The State and County Quick Facts website has facts about people, business, and geography for all 50 states. Information can also be found for individual counties and for cities with populations of 25,000 or more.
State and Local Government on the Net
This website provides links to current state websites. The websites can be located by state, topic, or local government.
StateList: The Electronic Source for State Publication Lists
StateList provides links to state publication checklists and shipping lists that are currently available on the Internet from 32 states. Arkansas shipping lists are not included.

American Factfinder
American Factfinder allows the user to obtain Census Bureau data in the form of maps, tables and reports. Community data can be retrieved with information on the population (age, education, income, race, etc), housing, and business data.
Bureau of Justice Statistics
This website provides data on crime, criminal offenders, victims of crime, and the operation of justice systems at all levels of government.
CDC: Data and Statistics
The Center for Disease Control’s Data and Statistics webpage provides information on actions and policies to improve the health of the nation. Statistics are available on aging, births, deaths, marriages and more. A good page under Key Resources is CDC Wonder, which provides a single point of access to a wide variety of reports and numeric public health data.
Comparative Climatic Data
These data tables of meteorological elements outline the climatic conditions at major weather observing stations in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Pacific Islands.
Energy Statistics
The Energy Information Administration provides energy statistics from the U.S. government that can be searched by geography, fuel type, sector, or price.
FedStats
FedStats provides statistics from over 100 U.S. Federal agencies on topics such as economic and population trends, education, health care costs, aviation safety and more. Topic links A-Z, MapStats, and the Search feature are helpful in finding needed data.
Statistical Abstract of the United States
Statistical Abstract of the United States contains a collection of statistics on social and economic conditions in the United States. There is other data from the Census Bureau, other Federal agencies and private organizations.
U.S. Climate at a Glance
The website provides line graphs, bar graphs, and tables for historical temperature and precipitation data.

Background Notes
Background Notes include facts about the land, people, history, government, political conditions, economy, and foreign relations of independent states, some dependencies, and areas of special sovereignty.
Country Studies
Country Studies presents a description and analysis of the historical setting and the social, economic, political, and national security systems and institutions of countries throughout the world. The series is not all inclusive.
CIA World Fact Book
Maintained by the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States, the World Fact Book has information about the geography, people, government, economy, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues of various countries throughout the world.
United Nations
The United Nations website explains what the UN is and the works it does to promote peace and human rights in the world.
U.S. Department of State
The U.S. Department of State website has information about what the department does, information on traveling and living abroad, various countries and regions, and international issues.

The Consumer Action website provides tips for purchasing goods and services, and information about spam, identity theft, credit, travel, utilities and more.
EPA Science Inventory
The Science Inventory (SI) is a searchable database of EPA science activities and scientific/technical work products. The Science Inventory provides information about current or recently completed activities, providing a snapshot of what science EPA is conducting in its research laboratories and centers, program and regional offices, and through grants and other assistance agreements to universities and other institutions.
Federal Consumer Information Center
The Consumer Information Center provides free or low-cost Federal publications for the public. Topics include health, Federal benefits, money management, housing, employment, small business, education, food and nutrition, cars, travel, consumer protection and more.
FedWorld.gov
FedWorld was established to serve as the online locator service for a comprehensive inventory of information disseminated by the Federal Government. Links to a variety of government websites are provided.
First Gov for Science
Provides public access and a unified search of the government’s vast stores of scientific and technical information. Science.gov is an interagency initiative of 17 U.S. government science organizations within 12 Federal agencies. Two major types of information are included — selected authoritative science Web sites and often hard-to-access scientific databases (specific content varies by database).
TRI Explorer
Provides access to the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) data to help communities identify facilities and chemical disposal or other release patterns that warrant further study and analysis.
