Music Resources

Library Music Collection

With the exception of the Music Course Reserves, music materials are located on the second floor of Torreyson Library:

  • Music Library
    • On the second floor near the library's administrative office
    • Contains Music Media: CDs, Music VHS/DVDs, and Music Recitals. Music Recitals are archived recital recordings for the UCA Music Department.
  • Music Reference, Scores, and Records (LPs) 
    • On the east side of the second floor, near Children's Literature 
    • Includes all MLs and MTs marked as "Reference"
  • Music Literature (MLs) and Music Instruction Materials (MTs) 
    • In the stacks, on the west side of the second floor 
    • Does NOT include MLs and MTs labeled as "Reference"
  • Music Course Reserves 
    • In the Course Reserves area, behind the Circulation Desk

The library's loan policies for music items are the following:

  • CDs, Music VHS/DVDs, Records (LPs)
    • UCA students, faculty, and staff can check these items out for 7 days.
    • Individuals can renew the loan twice, each time for 7 more days.
    • Individuals can have 7 DVDs from the main DVD collection, CDs, Music VHS/DVDs, and Records checked out at a time.
  • Music Scores, MLs, and MTs
    • UCA students can check these items out until the end of the semester.
    • UCA faculty and staff can check them out for a year.
    • Community members can check them out for 28 days, renewing them once for 28 more days.
  • Music Reference
    • These items cannot be checked out and must be used in the library.
  • Music Course Reserves
    • Students can check these out for 2 hours and cannot take them outside of the library.
  • Music Recitals
    • These items are available for in-house use only.

The library holds a vast collection of CDs and records (LPs), including from artists such as the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Nirvana, the Arctic Monkeys, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Roberta Flack, James Taylor, and more!
