Searching for Titles

To search for a specific title, begin the search with "ti," followed by a colon. "Ti" signals a title search.

  • Example:
    • ti: Monstress (for the title Monstress)
  • Exact phrases should be placed in quotation marks. Otherwise, the search will produce all results that have any words in the phrase. This guideline applies to all phrases.
    • For example:
      • To search for the title Paper Girls, type in
        • ti: "Paper Girls"
        • NOT ti: Paper Girls
        • The second search will lead to more results than the first one, and most of those results will not be the relevant title.

Searching for a Character or Team

To search for a specific character or team, begin the search with "su," followed by a colon. "Su" signals a subject search.

  • Examples:
    • su: Superman (for the subject "Superman")
    • su: Punisher (for the subject "Punisher")
    • su: "Justice League" (for the subject "Justice League")
      • Exact phrases should be placed in quotation marks.

Tip

If you receive too many irrelevant results while searching for a character, add "--(Fictitious character)" to the search string.

  • Examples:
    • su: Superman--(Fictitious character)
    • su: Punisher--(Fictitious character)

If searching for a team, add "(Fictitious characters)" to the search string.

  • Example:
    • "Justice League" (Fictitious characters)

The additions indicate that the searcher wants to view items about only the fictitious character(s) and not other results that searching for the subject alone may produce.

Searching for a Publisher

To search for a specific publisher, begin the search with "pb," followed by a colon. "Pb" signals a publisher search.

  • Examples:
    • pb: Marvel
    • pb: Image

Searching for Print Books

If you perform a search and receive many results that are not books, check "Print Book" as the location, which can be done on the left side of the screen:
