Search for Ebooks

Finding Ebooks

The easiest way to find ebooks is by using the Discovery search box on the library website. Add your search terms and narrow your search to ebooks using the filters on the left side of your results. Most of the library's available ebooks will be included in this search.

Searching Ebook Collections

Ebook collections can also be accessed and searched individually from the A to Z Databases page.

Multi-disciplinary collections

The library's largest collection of academic ebooks, covering a wide range of topics and some classic fiction titles. Most ebooks in these collections are available in PDF format with the ability to download and print part of the book. Some titles limit the number of users who can access the book at the same time.

Reference collections

Collections of authoritative encyclopedias, dictionaries, and other reference ebooks that provide general, factual, and background information. These ebooks can be searched individually, or the whole collection can be searched at once. Content is in HTML format, and individual entries can be downloaded and printed.

Specialty collections

Collections with specific types of ebooks or subjects. These ebooks are available in HTML format, and selections can be printed and emailed.

Downloading Ebooks

We recommend reading ebooks online and saving a permalink for the ebook or chapter to quickly return to the book as needed. Downloading is allowed for both EBSCO's eBook Collection and ProQuest's Ebook Central. Downloading requires creating an account on the platform, downloading Adobe Digital Editions, and creating an Adobe ID.

Instructions provided by each platform:

Does the library have Libby?

Torreyson Library does not currently have access to Libby or Overdrive. The bulk of the Libby and Overdrive collections are fiction and popular non-fiction, and they do not provide the variety of academic ebooks needed to meet the library’s academic mission. We recommend reaching out to your public library if you are interested in these ebook collections.
